disability condition in india from western view

whatever the indian govt. says and proves by their datas, truth cannt be hindered from the alert eyes. Please have a look from the website of handicapped international (http://www.handicap-international.org.uk which is a reputed international ngo in all over the world . on their site they have written this material about the condition of disability in india  .I have just simplified their points for easy understanding of our people of bihar.
Their comments should be eye opener for we indians-

  1. in india, the people with disabilities are excluded among the excluded.
  2. When it comes to the size of its population and extensive poverty, India holds some unenviable world records. More than 350 million people live on less than one dollar a day, including the vast majority of people with disabilities. 98% of children with disabilities do not go to school. In India, between 30 and 50 million people suffer from physical, sensorial or mental impairments, representing 3% to 5% of the population.

Key Facts - India

• Population: 1.21 billion
• Household Consumption: $1,324 per year
• Life Expectancy: 64 years
• Human Development: ranked 119th out of 169 countries
what does this means- very clear... we stand at 119th position out of 169 overall, you can easily imagine what the condition of disabled will be in india where the normal people is suffering the plight.
